Phoenix Zoo

As a bonus for participating in the MS Walk which went through part of the zoo, we got free admission for the rest of the day. So after we walked 5 miles, we put our free tshirts and backpacks that they gave us at the finish line in the car and walked back over to the zoo, wandered around the zoo a bit and then walked all the way back to the car. It wasn't until we were back to the car when we saw that there were shuttle buses taking the MS Walkers back and forth to the zoo. That would've saved us a lot of walking. Oh well. Now we know for next year...
I can't remember what the story was behind this tree but it reminded me of taking pictures like this in the caves on Tom Sawyer's island so I wanted my pic. taken here.
These little monkeys were so cute to watch. They were jumping and swinging all over the place. We were in a giant cage with them. It was kind of crazy.

I made Josh take a picture with the cowboy sculpture. He was excited to get some kettle corn to snack on as we wandered through the zoo.
We actually didn't take very many pictures but this guy looked pretty cool so I thought I'd include him.
You prob. can't read this plaque but it says, "USA Work Program Hunt Bass Hatchery Erected A.D. 1936 Sponsored by the Arizona State Game Department". It was just in a patch of desert a ways off the sidewalk as we made our way back to the parking lot after we left the zoo. Guess there was a fitch hatchery here 50 years ago. The sidewalk we took was marked WPA 1937. It got us wondering about how long sidewalks normally last and if this is one of the oldest sidewalks in such perfect condition.
